REAN and NEMSA Forge Partnership to Enhance Safety and Quality in Nigeria’s Renewable Energy Sector

The Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN) has embarked on a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) aimed at bolstering safety, standardization, and quality assurance in Nigeria’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector.

This is contained in a Statement signed by Ama Umoren, Public Affairs Unit, NEMSA and made available to TV360.

According to Umoren, a delegation from REAN, led by its President, Ayo Ademilola, visited NEMSA’s headquarters in Abuja for discussions with Olusegun Adesayo FNSE, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, along with members of the Agency’s Management team.

During the visit, Mr. Ademilola underscored REAN’s dedication to ensuring strict adherence to technical standards and safe practices throughout the renewable energy industry.

He highlighted that the Association, which consists of over 300 stakeholders—ranging from developers and service providers to researchers and equipment manufacturers—is actively working to align local and international standards for Nigeria’s renewable energy market.

As part of the proposed collaboration, REAN and NEMSA will jointly identify, develop, and implement technical standards applicable to renewable energy installations across the country.

The partnership aims to support the creation and periodic review of a Renewable Energy Construction and Installation Guideline Manual, which will foster uniformity, safety, and regulatory compliance in renewable energy deployment nationwide.

Furthermore, the collaboration will emphasize capacity building and knowledge sharing through structured training programs, technical workshops, and professional development initiatives.

These efforts are designed to enhance the skills of renewable energy practitioners and ensure compliance with established technical standards.

Both organizations will also engage in policy advocacy and regulatory coordination to ensure that renewable energy installations in Nigeria are conducted by certified professionals in line with national safety and quality requirements.

Additionally, they will launch stakeholder engagement and public awareness campaigns to educate consumers and industry players on the significance of certified renewable energy installations for greater safety, reliability, and sustainability.

In his remarks, Engr. Adesayo reaffirmed NEMSA’s mandate to enforce technical standards and guarantee the safety of electrical installations across the country. He emphasized that collaboration with industry bodies like REAN is essential for upholding high standards as Nigeria expands its renewable energy landscape.
