Residents of Jos, the capital of Plateau State, took to the streets in protest on Monday, April 21, 2025, decrying the recent surge in violent attacks that have claimed numerous lives in the region. The demonstrations were organized by local Christian leaders, including the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Polycarp Lubo.
Protesters gathered at Fawvwei Junction, blocking major roads and causing significant traffic disruptions. They held placards and chanted slogans demanding justice and immediate action from the government to address the security challenges plaguing the state.
The demonstrators accused armed groups, believed to be Fulani militants, of orchestrating the attacks on local communities. They called for increased security presence and proactive measures to prevent further loss of lives and property.
The state government has acknowledged the protests and assured residents that steps are being taken to enhance security and bring the perpetrators to justice.
