President Tinubu Congratulates Remo Stars for Historic NPFL Title Win

President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Remo Stars for securing the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title. The Sky Blue Stars clinched their first-ever NPFL championship with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes in Ikenne on Sunday.

With three matches still remaining in the season, Remo Stars lead the league standings with 68 points from 35 games. Rivers United, their closest rival, is in second place with 58 points, having played the same number of matches.

This historic victory makes Remo Stars the first privately owned club to win the NPFL title since Udoji United in 1996. President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, hailed the achievement as a reflection of the players’ dedication, discipline, and resilience, as well as the efforts of the coaching staff and management. He also commended the vision and commitment of the club’s owner and chairman, Kunle Soname.
