Police arrest 4 suspects, recover stolen property in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four suspected criminals in connection with a series of thefts in Udi Street, Uyo, and recovered several stolen items.

In a statement issued on Monday in Uyo, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the arrests were made following credible intelligence and in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Azare.

She disclosed that the operation, launched in the early hours of last Friday at about 1:15 a.m., was intelligence-led and targeted at a specific location in Udi Street.

“During the raid, operatives of the command apprehended two individuals suspected of theft, as well as two others believed to be receivers of stolen goods,” John said.

Items recovered from the suspects include 14 sewing machine heads and a generator. DSP John noted that two victims have already identified their stolen sewing machines among the recovered exhibits.

She added that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the criminal operation and bring all those involved to justice.
