
The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd. and the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, has unveiled the programme for the 2025 edition of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC).
With the central theme “Africa’s Energy Renaissance: Leveraging Innovation and Natural Gas for Sustainable Development,” the event is set to attract a high-powered delegation to the OTC in Houston, Texas, USA. The OTC is the largest and most influential global event for the energy industry, drawing thousands of exhibitors and visitors worldwide.
As announced by PETAN Conference Chairman Engr. Ibe Chubby Ibe and Publicity Secretary Dr. Innocent Akuvue, the event will proceed as follows:
Day 1 (Monday, May 5, 2025): The Nigerian Pavilion at NRG Park, Houston, TX, will be formally opened by the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, accompanied by Mr. Jim Swartz, CEO of Chevron Nigeria, PETAN Executives led by Chairman Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, and Managing Directors of International Oil Companies (IOCs), Independent Oil Companies, and other key industry stakeholders. The Nigerian Pavilion will remain open throughout the conference from May 5 to May 8.
Day 2 (Tuesday, May 6, 2025): A Luncheon and Panel Session will be held at the Wyndham Hotel (formerly Crowne Plaza Hotel) under the theme “Harnessing Nigeria’s Gas Potential for Domestic Utilization and the Global Export Market.” The panel will feature IOCs and National Oil Companies (NOCs) from across Africa, with key industry leaders discussing the challenges and opportunities impacting the local industry. Attendees will include Ministers of Petroleum Resources, Executives of IOCs and NOCs, and industry stakeholders from across Africa. Later in the evening, the Nigerian Oil Industry Awards Dinner and Cocktail will celebrate outstanding companies and individuals in the African oil sector, providing an opportunity for networking and showcasing African culture.
Day 3 (Wednesday, May 7, 2025): The African Content Collaboration Session will focus on “Local Content Development and Partnerships for Africa’s Energy Sustainability,” held at the Wyndham Hotel. The panel will consist of African Oil & Gas Service Providers and Regulators, discussing strategies for enhancing local content and sustainability within the industry.
Day 4 (Thursday, May 8, 2025): The conference will conclude with a Networking Golf Tournament at Quail Valley Golf Course in Missouri City, Texas, offering a relaxed environment for delegates to network and build partnerships.
The 2025 OTC promises to be a key platform for discussing and shaping the future of Africa’s energy sector.
