
A group of suspected armed kidnappers attacked a passenger vehicle along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari road in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State on Monday night, abducting an unspecified number of commuters.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m., was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Tuesday via X (formerly Twitter).
According to Makama, the assailants halted the vehicle as it traveled along the busy highway and forcefully led the passengers into a nearby forest, with their whereabouts still unknown as of press time.
Local youth leader Mustapha Jubrin from the Jukun community confirmed the incident and promptly alerted the Taraba State Police Command.
In response, security operatives were swiftly deployed to the area to comb through the surrounding bushland in a search-and-rescue effort.
The attack has heightened fears among residents and travelers in the region, which has witnessed periodic security threats including kidnappings and armed robberies.
Authorities have yet to confirm the number of victims or provide further updates on the progress of the ongoing rescue mission.
