More than 20 communities in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) experienced power outages during the Easter celebrations, leaving residents in darkness during the festive period. The outages were attributed to technical faults in the electricity distribution network.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) acknowledged the disruptions and assured residents that efforts were underway to restore power supply promptly. The company attributed the outages to faults in the feeder lines supplying electricity to the affected areas.
Residents expressed frustration over the timing of the outages, noting that the lack of electricity dampened the Easter celebrations. Many called on the relevant authorities to implement more robust measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to improving the nation’s power infrastructure, aiming to enhance grid capacity and ensure more reliable electricity supply across the country.
