One Million Nigerians to Gain Digital Skills Under Federal Government’s Committee

The Nigerian Government has inaugurated a Joint Implementation Committee to coordinate a national digital literacy push, aligning with its 2030 targets for workforce readiness and inclusive digital transformation.

The committee was inaugurated in Abuja by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, who was represented by Ibrahim Kana, Permanent Secretary of the General Services Office (GSO), during the launch of the ClergyWealth Digital Skills Nigeria (SkillUp) Initiative.

“This marks a major milestone in the government’s commitment to advancing digital literacy, strengthening human capital, and promoting inclusive digital transformation nationwide”, Akume said.

He emphasized that the initiative supports the Federal Government’s Digital Transformation Agenda, National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The programme, operating under the Future Proof Economy (FPE) Model, is fully funded and implemented by ClergyWealth Cooperative Society Limited.

“For clarity, the SkillUp Initiative is entirely privately sponsored and executed by ClergyWealth Cooperative Society Limited. The Federal Government bears no financial obligation or budgetary responsibility for this programme”, Akume noted. “

The Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) will coordinate the planning of the National Digital Literacy Conference, oversee training and certification of one million Nigerians and monitor progress toward building a digitally skilled workforce capable of supporting Nigeria’s economic and technological ambitions.
