Tragedy struck early Monday morning as a fatal road accident along the Tradefair–Agbara expressway in Lagos claimed the life of one person and left two others injured.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident occurred at approximately 5:36 a.m. at Iyana Era Bus Stop, involving a blue Mack truck (registration number AKD 579 XM) and a silver Lexus saloon car (registration number LSR 545 JN).
The FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Mr. Kehinde Hamzat, confirmed in a statement that the crash involved five adult males, with one confirmed dead on the scene and two others sustaining various injuries. Preliminary investigations by the corps cited speeding and loss of control, despite clear road conditions, as the primary causes of the collision.
“The impact was severe, leading to the unfortunate death of one individual. Our emergency response team arrived within four minutes of the alert and promptly evacuated the victims,” Hamzat said.
The injured were taken to Alimosho General Hospital for urgent medical treatment, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the appropriate facility.
Commander Hamzat extended condolences to the bereaved family and emphasized the importance of responsible driving. He urged motorists to avoid speeding and remain alert behind the wheel, especially during early hours when visibility and road awareness can be compromised.
The incident is a grim reminder of the ongoing road safety challenges in Lagos, where traffic violations and driver recklessness continue to pose serious risks to lives.
