The Ondo State Muslim Welfare Board has successfully airlifted the first batch of 316 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. This marks the beginning of the state’s official journey to the holy land for the 2025 pilgrimage season.

Chairman of the State Muslim Welfare Board, Dhikirulahi Chandy-Adam confirmed the departure to Newsmen on Monday. He explained that the pilgrims, who had already received the necessary vaccinations for yellow fever and meningitis, were set to leave from Ilorin International Airport at 1 p.m. on Monday.

“This morning, arrangements have been finalized for the first batch to be airlifted to Mecca,” Chandy-Adam said. “A total of 735 intending pilgrims from Ondo State will make the sacred journey this year, with the first group of 316 setting the pace for the trip.”

The second and third batches of pilgrims are scheduled to depart on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. The board chairman encouraged the pilgrims to approach the pilgrimage with devotion, adherence to their faith, and the fear of Allah, ensuring they have a safe and fulfilling journey.

He also reminded the pilgrims to strictly follow the rules and regulations set by the Saudi Arabian authorities for a smooth and successful Hajj experience.

As the pilgrimage unfolds, the Ondo State Muslim Welfare Board continues to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, marking another successful chapter in the state’s commitment to the spiritual fulfillment of its Muslim citizens.
