Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, made the unveiling during a colorful ceremony at the June 12 Cultural Centre on Tuesday night. He assured that Ogun is prepared to deliver the most memorable and inclusive National Sports Festival in Nigeria’s history.

The Ogun State Government has officially launched the mascot, logo, and theme song for the 2024 National Sports Festival, set to hold in the state from May 16 to 30, 2025.
Although the state last hosted the event nearly 20 years ago, the governor affirmed that Ogun is once again ready, this time with a touch of innovation aimed at redefining the national games.
Highlighting the creative process, Abiodun said the festival’s theme song, composed by Dr. Bayo Adepetun, captures the rhythm and spirit of the event, while the mascot was brought to life by the Ministry of Culture’s creative team. Both creations, he noted, symbolize the energy, rich cultural heritage, and aspirations of the people of Ogun.
Governor Abiodun emphasized the state’s investment in infrastructure, with upgraded and newly built facilities aimed at meeting international standards. He stated that these projects will serve beyond the festival as part of Ogun’s long-term goal to become a hub for sports tourism and athletic development in Nigeria.
Commending athletes, coaches, and technical staff for their dedication, Abiodun urged residents, stakeholders, and the media to rally around the event. He stressed that the festival is more than a competition — it’s a symbol of unity and a platform to spotlight Nigeria’s future stars.
Calling on the public and private sectors to support the games, he declared:
“We are ready to host, but we need all hands on deck. Let’s make it a truly unforgettable celebration of talent, unity, and national pride. Let’s make it Premium.”
The governor also applauded the Local Organising Committee, led by Dr. Kweku Tandoh and Bukola Olopade, for their efforts toward ensuring a successful festival.
