During Sunday’s fixture against Plateau United, visiting player Vincent Temitope was assaulted by Nasarawa supporters, leaving him with neck injuries.

Nasarawa United has been fined ₦6 million and ordered to play their remaining home matches in Gombe State following a violent incident involving their fans during a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match.

During Sunday’s fixture against Plateau United, visiting player Vincent Temitope was assaulted by Nasarawa supporters, leaving him with neck injuries. The NPFL confirmed the attack resulted from a failure by Nasarawa United to provide effective security.

In a statement on Monday, the league body announced that the Lafia-based club will now play their home games at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe for the remainder of the NPFL 2024/25 season.

“Nasarawa United has been fined ₦1 million each for inadequate security and failure to ensure the proper conduct of supporters,” the NPFL said via its official X handle. “An additional ₦3 million fine was imposed for persistent violations of league rules.”

The club was also ordered to pay ₦1 million to cover medical expenses and compensation for Plateau United’s Vincent Temitope.

The NPFL further detailed that unauthorized individuals were able to access restricted areas, harass match officials and the visiting team, and ultimately launch a physical attack aimed at causing serious harm.

The sanctions underscore the league’s commitment to ensuring player safety and upholding professional standards in Nigerian football.
