The Lagos State Government has firmly dismissed reports circulating on social media and some online platforms suggesting a rift between Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ogun State counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the claims as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.
The clarification was issued on Thursday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, following what he described as deliberate attempts to misinform the public.
According to Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s attention was drawn to online publications insinuating a strained relationship between the two governors.
“We wish to state unequivocally that these reports are not true. In fact, they are completely at odds with the reality of the relationship between the two leaders,” the statement said.
Akosile подчерк emphasized that Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun share a cordial, brotherly, and highly productive relationship, marked by regular meetings and frequent communication on matters of mutual interest and regional development.
“The two governors meet regularly and are in constant communication on issues affecting the growth and progress of their respective states,” he noted.
He added that the strong working relationship is further reinforced by the shared boundaries between Lagos and Ogun states, as well as deep-rooted socio-cultural and economic ties linking the two neighbours.
The Lagos State Government cautioned individuals and platforms spreading what it described as fake news aimed at sowing discord between the governors to desist, stressing that both leaders remain united by a common purpose.
“We advise those attempting to plant seeds of discord through misinformation to desist forthwith,” the statement said. “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Prince Dapo Abiodun are bound by a shared vision to improve the welfare and quality of life of the people of Lagos and Ogun states.”
The government urged the public to disregard the reports and rely on verified sources for accurate information.
