NNPP Slams Tinubu’s ‘Lukewarm’ Response to Benue Massacre

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has issued a scathing rebuke of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing its reaction to the recent massacre in Benue State as “lukewarm,” “insensitive,” and shockingly devoid of basic human empathy.

In a powerful statement released from Abuja on Thursday, NNPP National Publicity Secretary Ladipo Johnson condemned the brutal killing of over 200 innocent residents in Yelewata community, Guma Local Government Area — an attack allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

“This horrific act of mass murder, which left over 200 Nigerians dead and destroyed countless homes and livelihoods, was met with an agonizingly slow response from the federal government,” Johnson stated. “It took days before any meaningful intervention was made, leaving survivors and families to grapple with unimaginable loss and fear.”

The party criticized the Tinubu administration’s seeming inability or unwillingness to address the escalating violence that has tragically turned Benue into a killing ground, despite repeated warnings and previous promises of action.
