NNPC Denies Claims of Selling Substandard Petrol with High Burn Rate

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has strongly refuted claims made in a viral video that its petrol has a high burn rate and does not last long in fuel tanks.

In the video, a content creator compared petrol bought from MRS filling station and NNPC stations in Lagos, suggesting that NNPC fuel lasted only 17 minutes in a generator, while Dangote petrol lasted 33 minutes.

NNPCL clarified that the petrol sold at its stations in Lagos, including those involved in the comparison, is sourced from the Dangote Refinery. The company stressed that Dangote Refinery follows strict industry standards and ensures the quality of the fuel it supplies.

The NNPCL dismissed the video as “baseless and entirely unfounded,” stating that it was the result of amateur and unverified research. They emphasized that the petrol sold by NNPC is carefully formulated for optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability.

The company also warned that it would take legal action against individuals or groups spreading false information that could damage its reputation. NNPC urged the public to disregard the misleading content and rely on verified sources for accurate information.
