Nigerian Military gets First Female professional Golfer

Sergeant Cynthia Maurice of the Nigerian Airforce has made history by becoming the country’s first female professional golfer in the military.

HSD Golf Club Bayelsa hosted the Professional Examinations, which took place there from July 14 to July 20

The Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria approved exams that included written and spoken playing skill assessments.

The Assistant Resident Head Professional, TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club, Emmanuel Odoh, said that Maurice’s journey was a testament to her resilience, perseverance, and determination.

According to Odoh, her accomplishment has encouraged young girls to seek careers in sports and opened the path for future female golfers in the military.

He pointed out that it also demonstrates the strides achieved in advancing diversity and gender equality within the Nigerian military.
