Newcastle United are in advanced negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen over the signing of striker Victor Boniface, according to German outlet BILD. The deal is reportedly nearing completion.
Boniface, 24, came close to joining Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in January, but the club ultimately chose to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa instead.
The Nigerian international has dealt with injury setbacks this season but still managed to score 11 goals in 27 Bundesliga appearances. Despite the challenges, he was a key figure in Leverkusen’s domestic double triumph last season.
Boniface joined the German club in 2023 from Belgian Pro League side Union Saint-Gilloise.
