NECO Releases 2025 BECE Results, Resit Scheduled for July 23–24

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), marking the completion of yet another cycle of junior secondary school assessments across the country.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Azeez Sani, NECO’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the exam, which covered 12 subjects.

The 2025 BECE was conducted between May 12 and May 23, with the results approved following the conclusion of the BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

“The results of the examination were released following the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting,” the statement read.

Chairing the meeting was Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education Folake David, who expressed satisfaction with the integrity of the examination process and the prompt release of results.

Also in attendance were NECO management officials and secondary school principals from various parts of the country, who participated in the deliberations and final approval of results.

Re-sit Exam Dates Confirmed

NECO has also announced dates for the 2025 BECE re-sit, which is intended for candidates who need to retake Mathematics and English Studies two core subjects.

The re-sit exams are scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025, and a full timetable has been approved by the Award Committee.

Students and schools are advised to prepare accordingly, as performance in these subjects is critical for promotion into senior secondary school.
