Nathaniel Bassey Marks 44th Birthday With Worship Session at Lagos Prison
The gospel singer will bring his famed Halleluyah Challenge to Kirikiri Medium Prison, offering music and prayers to inmates.

Popular gospel artist and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, is set to celebrate his 44th birthday on Friday with a special worship session at the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison in Lagos.
The singer announced the plan in an Instagram post, noting that the outreach will feature a one-day edition of his widely followed online praise program, the Halleluyah Challenge.
“Tomorrow for my birthday, I praise and celebrate with my brethren in prison,” he wrote.
Since its launch in 2017, the Halleluyah Challenge has grown into one of Africa’s most influential worship movements, drawing tens of thousands of Christians each night for an hour of praise and prayer. The initiative has inspired testimonies of healing, restoration, and answered prayers across the world.
Bassey, whose hit songs include Onise Iyanu, Imela, and Olowogbogboro, has long used his platform to promote unity and revival within the Christian community. His decision to mark this year’s birthday behind prison walls reflects his continued emphasis on outreach and ministry beyond the church stage.
For many inmates, the session is expected to provide not only music but also a message of hope and encouragement.
