The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl, renamed Chiamaka Favor (alias), who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba and sold for ₦100,000.
The rescue operation was carried out by NAPTIP’s Abia State Command on May 8, 2025, following the arrest of the suspected trafficker by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia State.
According to NAPTIP, the suspect is believed to have collaborated with three trafficking syndicates operating from Abuja. The agency is intensifying efforts to dismantle these networks and bring all accomplices to justice.
NAPTIP is urgently seeking the biological parents or relatives of the rescued child to facilitate her reintegration. The agency has called on anyone with relevant information to contact them immediately.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of child trafficking in Nigeria and underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement agencies to combat such crimes.
