NANS Throws Weight Behind Soludo’s Re-election Bid, Applauds Developmental Strides in Anambra

Student body lauds infrastructural strides after touring Government House, Solution Fun City, and other key sites in Awka.

With the 2025 Anambra governorship election on the horizon, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has declared its full support for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s second-term ambition, citing his “visionary leadership” and remarkable infrastructural achievements.

The endorsement came during a campus tour of South Eastern states by NANS President, Olushola Oladoja, who visited several key project sites in Awka on Wednesday, June 18. Accompanied by other student leaders, Oladoja was received by Dr Ossy Onuko, Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA).

Among the highlights of the tour was a visit to the newly constructed Anambra Government House, which Oladoja described as “one of the finest in Nigeria” for its architectural excellence and functionality.

“This is a visionary project. Governor Soludo’s work here is exceptional,” Oladoja told journalists. He urged the state government to ramp up its media presence to showcase the governor’s achievements, which he said have been underreported.

The NANS delegation also visited the Solution Fun City, a major recreational and tourism development built on what was once swamp land. Visibly impressed, Oladoja praised Soludo’s foresight and transformation efforts. “If I could vote in Anambra, my vote would be for him. NANS fully supports his re-election,” he declared.

During the tour, Dr Onuko provided further insight into Soludo’s broader developmental agenda. He revealed that the governor has awarded over 750 kilometres of roads, with more than 450 kilometres already completed and asphalted, including several dualised federal roads.

“Governor Soludo is not driven by politics but by purpose,” Onuko said. “As a globally respected economist and former Central Bank Governor, he returned to serve his people, and the results are evident.”

The visit concluded with a courtesy call on Anambra’s Deputy Governor, Dr Onyeka Ibezim, by the NANS leadership. The association’s backing marks a significant endorsement ahead of the 2025 polls and signals growing support for Soludo’s administration from youth and student communities across Nigeria.
