The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the successful destruction of a Boko Haram Improvised Explosive Device (IED) factory, several gun trucks, and the elimination of dozens of terrorists in a precision airstrike conducted in Kwaltiri, within the Tumbuktu Triangle of Borno State.
According to a statement by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the operation was carried out on June 18 by the air component of Operation HADIN KAI, following credible intelligence on terrorist activity in the area.
Surveillance missions had identified an IED production site and multiple vehicles at the location. These were subsequently targeted and destroyed in a series of coordinated precision strikes by NAF aircraft.
“The operation dealt a significant blow to the terrorists’ operational capabilities,” the statement noted. “The strikes not only disrupted their logistics and command structures but also weakened their morale and fighting strength.”
NAF described the mission as part of its ongoing commitment to degrading terrorist networks and enhancing security across the North East.
