Mohbad: VeryDarkMan Shares Alleged Voice Recording of Zlatan Ibile, Demands Explanation

Nigerian social media activist Vincent Otse Martins, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has stirred fresh controversy in the ongoing quest for justice over the death of late singer Mohbad. The outspoken influencer recently released an alleged voice recording purportedly capturing a conversation between music promoter Sam Larry and Nigerian artist Zlatan Ibile.
The leaked audio, which has since gone viral, appears to feature Zlatan speaking in Yoruba with Sam Larry, expressing his unwillingness to publicly involve himself in the heated debate and investigations surrounding Mohbad’s tragic death. Zlatan reportedly cited the online drama and backlash often triggered by speaking out on such matters.
Sharing the clip via his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan issued Zlatan a 48-hour ultimatum to publicly clarify his position and explain his silence during the widespread calls for justice in the aftermath of Mohbad’s passing.
“I’m playing a voice recording between Zlatan and Sam Larry—recorded around the time Mohbad died,” VDM said in the video. “Zlatan has 48 hours to speak up about what he knows and why he kept quiet when the rest of us were seeking justice.”
Addressing critics who questioned his decision to revisit the case, VeryDarkMan didn’t hold back. He accused them of lacking genuine concern for justice and called out the culture of quickly forgetting unresolved issues.
“I see people saying, ‘VDM, why are you bringing this up again?’ It shows many of you are ungrateful,” he said. “I brought this case back because I’ve noticed that people are already moving on—that’s exactly why our government doesn’t take us seriously. We forget too easily.”
He also slammed those who, according to him, know the truth but have remained silent out of fear or intimidation.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died under controversial circumstances in September 2023. His death sparked a national outcry and calls for accountability, particularly involving individuals close to him during his lifetime. Despite initial investigations, Mohbad has still not been buried, intensifying calls for renewed attention to the case.
