The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to serving the people of Rivers despite ongoing political challenges.
In a heartfelt statement commemorating his second year in office, Fubara called on all stakeholders to set aside differences and unite in the quest to rebuild and strengthen the state.
Marking exactly two years since his inauguration on May 29, 2023, Fubara expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming public mandate that brought him to power, emphasizing that the support of the people remains his greatest source of strength and motivation.
“Today, I stand humbled and honored to have been entrusted with the sacred responsibility of leading Rivers State,” he said in a personally signed address titled, “Our Journey: Challenging but Progressive and Impactful.” The statement was shared with the press by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
Reflecting on the turbulent political landscape that has defined much of his tenure, Fubara acknowledged the hurdles but remained resolute in his dedication to the welfare of Rivers residents. “Despite the turbulence, my focus has never wavered from the solemn oath I took—to prioritize the interests of our great state above all else,” he affirmed.
Fubara highlighted the strides his administration has made across critical sectors including healthcare, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and gender inclusion in governance. “Though progress has at times been slowed by political headwinds, the achievements of these two years stand as testament to the resilience and determination of the people of Rivers State,” he noted.
The governor extended heartfelt thanks to citizens for their patience, sacrifice, and continued support, which he described as the backbone of his administration’s efforts. “Your unwavering encouragement has fueled my resolve to push forward with renewed vigor for peace, reconciliation, and collective progress,” Fubara stated.
Calling for healing and unity, Fubara appealed to all who remain burdened by recent political upheavals to embrace reconciliation and join hands in rebuilding Rivers. “It is time to turn the page. Together, let us channel our energies towards a future marked by unity, peace, and prosperity. The time to rebuild and rise as one is now,” he urged.
Looking ahead, Fubara expressed optimism about the state’s future and reiterated his vision of Rivers State as a model of governance and development for Nigeria. “With continued collaboration and shared purpose, I am confident we can build a Rivers State we are all proud to call home,” he concluded.
