Lookman, Chukwueze Among Serie A’s Top 50 Dribblers

Nigeria’s attacking duo, Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze, have been ranked among the top 50 dribblers in Serie A for the 2024/25 season.

According to statistics from Euro Football Rumours, both players are the only Nigerian internationals featured on the list, which ranks players based on successful dribbles completed in Italy’s top flight.

Lookman, who plays as a winger for Atalanta, leads the way among Nigerian players, having completed 27 dribbles in 23 league appearances. That averages to 1.2 dribbles per game, earning him 22nd place in Serie A’s overall dribbling rankings. Beyond his dribbling, the former Everton star has been in superb form, contributing 13 goals and five assists, making him one of the most influential attackers in Serie A this season.

Meanwhile, AC Milan’s Chukwueze ranks 40th overall with 20 completed dribbles. He shares this position with Napoli’s Frank Anguissa, Udinese’s Martín Payero, Cagliari’s Tommaso Augello, and Monza’s Warren Bondo. Chukwueze’s numbers are impressive, considering his limited game time, with the 24-year-old having played just 796 minutes across 21 Serie A matches, starting only nine. Despite this, his dribbling efficiency remains strong, averaging 2.2 dribbles per 90 minutes. However, his lack of consistent minutes has limited his overall contributions, with Chukwueze managing only three league goals this season.

At the top of the dribbling charts, Como’s Nico Paz leads with 57 completed dribbles, followed by AC Milan’s Rafael Leão (50), Venezia’s Gaetano Oristanio (48), Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz (45), and Lazio’s Nuno Tavares (44).

As both players shift focus to international duty, Lookman and Chukwueze are set to bring their dribbling flair to Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Both have been named in the Super Eagles squad for upcoming fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, having joined the team’s training camp in Kigali.

Nigeria will face Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium on March 21, followed by a clash against Zimbabwe four days later. Lookman is expected to play a key role in the attack, with his impressive club form likely making him a guaranteed starter under coach Eric Chelle. Chukwueze, however, may find himself on the bench due to stiff competition for attacking spots in the Super Eagles lineup.
