Liverpool’s Rio Chima Ngumoha Becomes Youngest Premier League Goalscorer, Eligible to Play for Nigeria

Liverpool forward Rio Chima Ngumoha, who qualifies to represent Nigeria, has etched his name into the club’s history with a dramatic 100th-minute winner against Newcastle United on Monday.

The 16-year-old striker was introduced off the bench in the 94th minute while the match was tied at 2-2, and he delivered a stunning late goal to secure victory for the Premier League champions.

Earlier in the match, Ryan Gravenberch put Liverpool ahead with a low shot despite the opposition’s dominance, followed by Anthony Gordon’s dismissal after a foul on Virgil van Dijk.

Shortly after halftime, Hugo Ekitike extended the lead, marking his second goal in consecutive games for Arne Slot’s squad.

Newcastle responded when Bruno Guimarães scored a powerful header, and substitute William Osula leveled the score in the 88th minute.

In the dying moments, Dominik Szoboszlai’s clever cross set up Ngumoha to calmly finish and make history as Liverpool’s youngest Premier League goalscorer.

Though born in England to Nigerian parents and having represented England at youth levels, Ngumoha remains eligible to play for Nigeria at the senior international level.
