Liverpool Pursue Alexander Isak with Record Bid; Target Hugo Ekitike as Backup — Kolo Touré Joins Man City Staff

Liverpool have initiated a club-to-club discussion with Newcastle United regarding a record-breaking offer for Swedish striker Alexander Isak.
Should Isak prove unavailable, the Reds plan to shift their focus towards securing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that the decision rests with Newcastle, who have shown reluctance to sell Isak and have reportedly offered the striker a new contract.
The situation with Ekitike remains unresolved, as Newcastle submitted an official bid close to €80 million on Monday. However, Eintracht Frankfurt are holding out for a higher fee.
“Liverpool can enter the race… only if Newcastle close the doors to Alexander Isak’s exit,” Romano tweeted.
Newcastle themselves continue to pursue Ekitike, though much depends on the outcome of the Isak negotiations.
In other news, Manchester City have officially appointed Kolo Touré as part of Pep Guardiola’s first-team coaching staff.
Romano had previously reported Touré’s impending arrival in May 2025, and the Ivorian has now signed his contract.
