Liverpool Mourns Diogo Jota After Fatal Crash Days Following His Wedding

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away on Thursday, had recently shared a heartfelt message about his wedding to longtime partner Rute Cardoso, which took place on June 22, 2025.
Jota and his brother, André, lost their lives in a fatal car accident in Zamora province, Spain. Reports indicate that their Lamborghini veered off the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle and subsequently caught fire.
The football world has been left in shock, with Liverpool describing Jota’s death as “devastating.”
Just days before the tragic incident, on June 28, Jota posted photos on his X account from his wedding ceremony in Porto, writing: “June 22, 2025. Yes, forever.”
Spanish authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and made 182 appearances for the club. Over his five-year spell at Anfield, he won the FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, and most recently, the 2024/25 Premier League title under manager Arne Slot.
