Lagos to Host 2025 Best of Nollywood Awards — Gov. Sanwo-Olu

The governor says the event highlights Nollywood’s role as a cultural and economic force in Nigeria and beyond.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that the state will host the 2025 edition of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, one of the most prestigious events celebrating achievements in the Nigerian film industry.

Sharing the update on his official X handle, Sanwo-Olu expressed excitement at the opportunity, noting that it reflects Lagos’ commitment to nurturing the creative sector.

“I am pleased to share that Lagos will be hosting the 2025 edition of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards. This is an opportunity to show our deep commitment to the creative industry in Lagos and across Nigeria. Nollywood is a vital part of our culture, our economy, and our global identity,” he wrote.

The governor described Nollywood as a pillar of Nigeria’s culture and economy, reiterating his administration’s support for creatives across the state. He assured that Lagos would deliver a truly memorable edition of the awards.

“We remain committed to supporting the creative industry, and we are ready to make this year’s BON Awards truly special,” he added.

The BON Awards, established in 2009, recognizes and celebrates outstanding performances, films, and contributions within Nollywood, further cementing Nigeria’s influence in the global entertainment landscape.
