Lagos Hosts Data Sovereignty Conference with Global Tech and Business Leaders
On September 18, 2025, Lagos will host the Africa Data Sovereignty Conference, a high-stakes summit bringing together industry leaders, regulators, policymakers, and enterprise executives to chart the future of data ownership and infrastructure readiness.
The event will unpack critical themes, including data domiciliation policies, cloud infrastructure deployment, cybersecurity resilience, and cross-border compliance frameworks.
Organized by Olla Systems in partnership with Africa Hyperscalers, the conference is expected to attract over 300 senior decision-makers from enterprise organizations, high-growth startups, government institutions, and regulatory agencies.
Speaking on expectations from the conference, the Chief Executive Officer of Olla Systems and convener of the Africa Data Sovereignty Conference, Olusola Adenuga, said, “Data sovereignty is not just about where data resides; it is also about who controls it, who benefits from it, and how it powers national development.
“Other regions retain over 80% of their data onshore. Africa must break its digital dependence and build sovereign infrastructure that keeps our data, value, and opportunity within the continent”, he added
The discussions come at a pivotal moment, as countries like Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ghana roll out data residency mandates requiring regulated institutions to store and process sensitive information within national borders.
