In a bid to promote excellence and enhance performance, the Lagos State government has announced that athletes representing the state at the 22nd National Sports Festival, known as the Gateway Games 2024, will receive immediate awards and incentives for exceptional achievements.

This assurance was given by the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, during his visit to the athletes’ training camp at Akinde Anglican Church Hostel, Igbo-Igunnu, Bariga, ahead of their departure on Friday.

“Mr. Governor draws great inspiration from excellence and initiatives that position Lagos as a front-runner, particularly in sports,” Fatodu stated.

He added, “It’s an honour to be part of your journey. I have full confidence that you will make us even prouder at the National Sports Festival in Ogun State. Let’s remain hopeful, focused, and self-assured. In the end, we’ll celebrate our collective success.”

Fatodu also commended the athletes, saying, “We appreciate your passion, talent, and discipline. You are the reason Lagos is recognized as a hub of sporting excellence.”
