Kwara Attack: Over 50 Survivors Undergoing Medical Treatment

More than 50 survivors of the recent deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State are currently receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during the assault.

The victims, many of whom suffered gunshot wounds and other serious injuries, were among those affected when gunmen attacked Woro and the neighbouring Nuku community, leaving scores dead and several others wounded.

The Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Sadiq Umar, visited some of the injured survivors in hospital, where he described the incident as heartbreaking and expressed deep sympathy for the victims and their families.

During the visit, Senator Umar prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and reassured them of his continued support throughout their treatment and recovery process.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for the deployment of security personnel under Operation Savannah Shield, describing the move as a critical step toward restoring peace and bringing the perpetrators of the attack to justice.

The lawmaker also praised Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as a swift and coordinated response, particularly the governor’s directive to the State Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials to affected communities.

Calling for sustained security operations across Kwara North, Senator Umar noted that the senatorial district has faced recurring security challenges and requires continuous protection.

He urged residents of the area to remain united, hopeful, and prayerful in the face of the tragedy, while reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of his constituents and expressing confidence that lasting peace would return to the region.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence assets to Kaiama Local Government Area as efforts intensify to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
