Amid growing speculation over a potential defection, Buba Galadima has confirmed that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will remain in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), despite pressure from rival political camps.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Friday, Galadima dismissed reports suggesting that the former Kano State governor may be planning to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He also confirmed that both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as members of a coalition movement, have made serious overtures to lure Kwankwaso into their folds.
Galadima, a close ally of the NNPP presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, insisted that Kwankwaso remains loyal to the NNPP and has no immediate plans to switch allegiance. He described the former governor as a disciplined and strategic politician who understands the importance of timing in politics.
“We will remain in the NNPP strategically until the whistle is blown for politics,” Galadima stated, adding that Kwankwaso’s quiet demeanor has only enhanced his credibility among the electorate and political observers.
According to Galadima, Kwankwaso’s perceived silence has ironically sparked widespread public endorsement, with people voluntarily campaigning on his behalf. “He has decided to keep quiet, and yet people are campaigning for him free of charge,” he said. “What more could you ask from a politician?”
Galadima argued that the attention Kwankwaso receives from multiple political parties proves his national appeal and leadership potential. He urged Nigerians to rally behind the NNPP figure, calling him a man capable of delivering true democratic dividends.
As Nigeria edges closer to the 2027 general elections, the political future of Rabiu Kwankwaso remains a subject of keen interest — but for now, according to Galadima, his loyalty to the NNPP is unwavering.
