The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) outfit, Katsina United, has officially designated Uche Collins as Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) following a prolonged period of unaccounted absence. The formal announcement was delivered via a public statement issued on Friday by the club’s Chairman, Surajo Umar Baba, who expressed concern over the player’s current status.
According to the details provided by Umar, the “Chanji Boys” have not had contact with Collins since the team’s high-profile encounter against Rangers on February 22, 2026, which took place at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium. Despite his current absence, the club’s leadership emphasized that the player remains legally bound to the organization through a professional contract that extends until the conclusion of the 2026/2027 competitive season.
In a stern warning to the domestic and international football community, Katsina United cautioned that any club attempting to negotiate with or sign the player without explicit authorization from the hierarchy will be met with immediate legal action. This hardline stance underscores the value the club places on a player who has consistently performed at an elite level over the previous two years.
Collins’ disappearance represents a significant blow to the squad’s continuity, given his status as one of the most reliable assets in the NPFL. His influence on the pitch was most notably recognized during the 2024/25 campaign, where his contributions earned him the prestigious title of Katsina United’s Player of the Season.
