Kano South APC Leaders Urge Senator Sumaila to Return to Party

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano South Senatorial District have appealed to Senator Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila to rejoin the party, saying his return would strengthen the APC ahead of future political contests in the state.

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano South Senatorial District have appealed to Senator Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila to rejoin the party, saying his return would strengthen the APC ahead of future political contests in the state.

The appeal was made during a press conference held in Albasu town on Tuesday, where APC chairmen, secretaries, and ward leaders from the 16 local government areas of Kano South gathered to issue a joint call.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the APC Chairman of Albasu Local Government, Iliyasu Hungu, said the senator’s political experience and influence remain unmatched in the zone.

“Senator Sumaila is a unifying figure and a politician who works across party lines. Though he is currently with the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), he continues to engage with people from all political backgrounds. This is the kind of leader the APC needs,” Hungu stated.

He emphasized that the senator’s return would bring renewed strength and direction to the party in Kano South.

“We are appealing to our serving and former APC lawmakers, the APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and the Kano APC State Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas to help in reaching out to Senator Sumaila,” Hungu said.

The party leaders acknowledged Sumaila’s past contributions to the party and urged him to consider their plea.

“Senator Sumaila has no equal in Kano South. His commitment to grassroots development and the welfare of his constituents is well known. We miss his presence in the party and sincerely hope he will return,” Hungu added.

Sumaila, who currently represents Kano South in the Senate under the NNPP, was previously a key figure in the APC and a former member of the House of Representatives.

His potential return, party officials say, could reshape APC’s political landscape in Kano State as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.
