Kaduna Police Raid Black Spots, Arrest 182 Suspects, Recover Arms and Drugs

Crackdown targets Rigasa, Kawo, Sabon Tasha; AK-47, 31 rounds of ammo, 30 bags of Indian hemp recovered

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 182 suspects during a series of coordinated raids on criminal hideouts across the metropolis. The operation led to the recovery of dangerous weapons, hard drugs, and a stolen vehicle.

In a statement released on Saturday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the crackdown was part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and boost public safety.

“The command has launched an aggressive manhunt and clampdown on black spots across Kaduna to safeguard lives and properties,” Hassan stated.

The raids, led by Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), were concentrated in high-risk areas including Rigasa, Kawo, Tudun Wada, and Sabon Tasha.

Hassan disclosed that the operation yielded significant seizures, including:

1 AK-47 rifle with a loaded magazine of 31 rounds

30 bags and approximately 1,600 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp

Various dangerous weapons

A stolen Honda Accord car

He revealed that during a Friday raid in Rigasa, officers recovered large quantities of hard drugs and Indian hemp. Later that night, at around 11:45 p.m., residents of Rafin Guza discovered a bag abandoned during a police pursuit, containing the loaded AK-47 magazine.

In another operation, police operatives from Kakuri Division, acting on intelligence, posed as buyers and apprehended a suspect, Ziya Abdullahi, attempting to sell a stolen vehicle. His arrest led to the capture of an accomplice, Bashir Usman, also known as “Yellow.”

“They confessed to robbing a victim at knifepoint and fleeing with a Honda Accord, which has since been recovered in Zaria,” Hassan said.

While some of the suspects have already been charged in court, others are undergoing investigation. Those found culpable will be prosecuted in line with the law.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eradicating crime and called on residents to provide timely, actionable information.

“The command remains resolute in its duty to protect lives and ensure peace and security across the state,” the statement concluded.
