The 2023 governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State Abdul-Azeez Adediran, widely known as Jandor, has been engaging in a series of high-profile political consultations following his resignation from the party.
His spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, confirmed on Thursday that Jandor recently met with President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and several other influential figures.
The meeting with President Tinubu occurred on Monday, as part of Jandor’s ongoing effort to assess his political future. Ogunleye stated that this engagement is just one of many he has had since parting ways with the PDP. In addition to Tinubu, Jandor has also met with former President Ibrahim Babangida, ex-Head of State Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar, and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, among other notable national leaders.
As Jandor explores his next political steps, these consultations are seen as a crucial phase in his efforts to chart a new course following his resignation from the PDP. The statement from Ogunleye also revealed that the PDP National Secretary and other party leaders recently visited Jandor to urge him to reconsider his resignation. However, the details of his next move remain unclear.
Earlier this year, Jandor cited “indiscipline and anti-party activities” within the PDP as the primary reasons for his resignation. He accused the national leadership of the PDP of letting him down on the eve of the Lagos State governorship election. Jandor claimed that a false alliance declaration led to confusion among party supporters in Lagos, ultimately costing him the election victory.
Looking ahead, Jandor is scheduled to meet with his political associates and other key stakeholders in Lagos over the weekend. He is also expected to address the media on Monday, March 17, 2025, where he may provide further insights into his political future and his next steps in the wake of his resignation from the PDP.
