The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made public the personal details of all candidates running in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, scheduled for November 8, 2025.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, this move follows the conclusion of party primaries and the timely submission of nomination forms by 16 political parties before the official deadline of 6:00 p.m. on May 12, 2025.
In accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC has displayed each candidate’s Form EC9, academic credentials, and other relevant documents at its state headquarters and all 21 local government area offices across Anambra.
The documents were uploaded via INEC’s dedicated online portal, which automatically closed once the submission deadline passed.
INEC is urging the public to review the published documents and reminded political aspirants of their right to legally challenge any candidate’s qualifications. Under Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act, any aspirant who suspects a candidate submitted false information has the right to file a suit at the Federal High Court.
Furthermore, INEC confirmed that the final list of candidates will be officially released on June 9, 2025. This timeline aligns with Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, which mandates the publication of the final list at least 150 days before the election.
