“I’m Benefiting from What I Was Trolled For” – Rema

Nigerian Afrobeat star Rema has opened up about how social media trolling has unexpectedly fueled his success.
In a recent video interview shared online, the singer revealed that he actually appreciates being trolled because it has helped him grow and achieve global recognition.
Reflecting on his journey, Rema acknowledged that despite the skepticism and criticism surrounding his unique sound, giving up was never an option.
He said, “It’s amazing to see something people troll and criticize me for—and guess what? I’m benefiting from it. Imagine if I had stopped or listened to the trolls and just switched it off.”
“Four years later, it all paid off—and there’s more to come. It’s a massive territory. I was actually the first Afrobeat artist to tour India, and if I’m not mistaken, the first from Africa to do so. That’s a huge milestone.”
Rema’s story is a testament to resilience, proving that turning negativity into motivation can lead to breakthrough success.
