Ihovbor–Ajaokuta: TCN Executes Clearance Exercise to Safeguard New 330kV Transmission Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Benin Region recently conducted a significant clearance operation to remove structures encroaching on the new Ihovbor–Ajaokuta 330kV Transmission Line.
This exercise took place from Wednesday, February 18, to Friday, February 20, 2026.
In a statement released in Abuja, TCN outlined that the primary objective of the operation was to reclaim the company’s Right of Way (ROW) along the transmission corridor.
Prior to this clearance, TCN organized sensitization programs to educate the host community about the risks associated with encroachment on transmission lines.
Additionally, the company provided a three-month notice to the community and issued compensation to those affected by the initiative.
The clearance was executed by a specialized team from TCN’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, in collaboration with the Property Department.
Key stakeholders, including traditional rulers and youth leaders, were informed and engaged in the process before the operation commenced.
This proactive measure is essential for protecting lives and property while ensuring the security of critical power infrastructure along the transmission corridor.
