The home-based Super Eagles secured a 1-0 victory over Remo Stars in a pre-2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) friendly match held in Ikenne on Tuesday.
This marked the team’s first friendly since they assembled in Ikenne ahead of the CHAN tournament last Monday.
The winning goal was scored by Abia Warriors striker Anthony Ijoma, delivering the crucial strike for coach Eric Chelle’s squad.
Vincent Temitope missed a penalty opportunity for the Home Eagles during the match.
Standout performers for Nigeria included Haruna Hadi, Tochukwu Michael, and Stephen Manyo.
The team is scheduled to participate in additional friendly matches as they prepare for the competition, which is set to kick off early next month across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Nigeria will be making their return to the CHAN after missing out on qualification for the previous two editions.
