Authorities in Ogun State have launched a full-scale investigation into the suspected ritual killing of 16-year-old Lawal Wahab, whose mutilated body was discovered days after he went missing.
The teenager, who was last seen staying with his grandmother, was declared missing by his father, Mr. Lawal Olumide. On July 23, his decomposing remains were found abandoned along the Old Express Road in Igbile-Ijebu, with several body parts—including his heart, wrists, and genitals—gruesomely removed.
Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, said officers from the Omu-Ijebu Division had arrested key suspects, including 25-year-old Salawu Omikansola and one Serefusi Agemo. Odutola added that one of the suspects had given a voluntary video-recorded confession.
“The case file and related exhibits are being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for further discreet investigation. Manhunt for other fleeing accomplices is ongoing,” she stated.
The police assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice is served, condemning the killing as a “heinous and inhumane crime.” The teenager has since been buried in line with Islamic rites due to the condition of his body.
Citizens have been urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
