Governor Yusuf Defends Kwankwaso, Denies ₦2 Billion Monthly Payout Allegation

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has dismissed claims that his administration pays ₦2 billion monthly to former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Speaking during a press briefing in Kano, Yusuf labeled the allegations as politically motivated fabrications aimed at tarnishing his predecessor’s reputation.

The claim, which originated from opposition figures, suggested that the state was diverting funds meant for development to settle Kwankwaso, who is also the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Yusuf, however, challenged the accusers to present evidence, affirming that his administration’s finances are transparent.

He reiterated his commitment to developmental projects, including free education and infrastructure renewal. “Kwankwaso is not a thief. These lies are a distraction from the real work we are doing,” Yusuf said.
