Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has lifted the suspension of 81 top government officials, following a directive issued on Tuesday through his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.
The affected officials including the Attorney General, 25 commissioners, 22 permanent secretaries, 14 senior special assistants, and 24 special assistants were suspended on July 28, 2025, for failing to attend a key government function.
Governor Nwifuru had imposed a one-month working suspension without pay and barred the officials from signing any official documents during the disciplinary period.
The move, which drew wide attention, was intended to enforce discipline and accountability within the state’s executive arm.
Those initially suspended included commissioners overseeing critical portfolios such as Works, Finance, Information, Rural Development, Education, Agriculture, Water Resources, Commerce and Industry, Environment, Health, and Arts and Culture, among others.
With the suspension now lifted, the governor has ordered all affected officials to resume duties immediately, signaling a return to full administrative capacity in the state’s ministries and agencies.
Governor Nwifuru’s decisive action underscores his administration’s stance on discipline and performance while reaffirming his commitment to effective governance.
