Gov. Kefas Vows Justice and Strengthened Security After Fresh Taraba Attack

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has strongly condemned the recent brutal attack on the Munga Lelau community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, which tragically claimed multiple lives.

The violent assault occurred Friday evening as residents were returning from their farms amidst the onset of the rainy season.

This latest attack comes just weeks after suspected bandits struck the nearby Bandawa community, killing two farmers and intensifying fears across the region.

Describing the violence as both horrendous and utterly unacceptable, Governor Kefas lamented that such attacks only serve to derail the progress and peace that Taraba deserves. “Karim Lamido has sadly become synonymous with banditry in recent times.

This fresh tragedy in Munga Lelau is a stark reminder of the challenges we face,” he said in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Emmanuel Bello.

The governor issued a stern warning to the perpetrators, assuring that they would face severe consequences under the law. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to securing Taraba State against all forms of external aggression and criminality.

Highlighting the critical role of community cooperation, Governor Kefas called for stronger collaboration between residents and security agencies, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and timely sharing of sensitive information to thwart further attacks.

“Our administration places the safety and wellbeing of Taraba’s citizens above all else,” the governor affirmed. “We have deployed all necessary measures to prevent escalation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”

In closing, Governor Kefas appealed for calm and urged all citizens to remain alert, report suspicious activities promptly, and work hand in hand with security forces to restore peace to the state.
