Global Airlines Cancel Flights After Israeli Strikes on Iran Shut Down Airspace

Airlines worldwide canceled or rerouted flights on Friday following Israeli strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites, prompting widespread airspace closures across Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Syria.

The escalation, believed to be in response to Iran’s earlier drone and missile attacks, triggered major travel disruptions. Air India, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, and Air France were among those suspending flights or diverting routes to avoid the volatile region.

Air India recalled or rerouted 16 international flights, while Emirates and Qatar Airways suspended operations to Iran, Iraq, and other affected destinations.

Lufthansa and Air France halted flights to Tehran and Tel Aviv, citing security concerns. Russia’s aviation authority also banned its airlines from operating in the region until at least June 26.

Airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi reported delays and cancellations, urging travelers to check schedules.

The disruption highlights renewed fears over aviation safety amid rising regional tensions. Analysts warn that flight risks may persist for weeks as diplomatic uncertainty continues.
