Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has backed Chelsea to finish inside the Premier League top four this season, despite admitting that inconsistency across the league could make the race unpredictable.
Following their 1–0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, Enzo Maresca’s Blues currently sit sixth on the Premier League table, trailing Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Bournemouth, and Tottenham.
Speaking to reporters, Neville shared his belief that Chelsea’s quality and growing confidence under Maresca will be enough to propel them into a Champions League qualification spot by the end of the campaign.
“The problem is the Premier League is so inconsistent this year, all the teams are inconsistent,” Neville said.
“You look at the league table and what happens, the fact of the matter is Tottenham are still in front of Chelsea.
I think Chelsea will have enough to get into that top four because I think it’s going to be a bit crazy all season.”
Chelsea, who are beginning to find their rhythm under their new manager, will next turn their attention to European football as they prepare to face Qarabag FK in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday at the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium.
