Garnacho Slams Amorim for Limited Playing Time in Europa League Final Defeat

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has expressed frustration with manager Ruben Amorim following the team’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on Wednesday.

In an interview with Argentine media after the loss, Garnacho made it clear that he was unhappy with Amorim’s decision to play him for just 20 minutes in the final, despite his contributions to United’s progress in the competition up until that point.

Brennan Johnson’s first-half goal in Bilbao ended Spurs’ 17-year wait for silverware, while Garnacho, who had been a key player for United throughout the tournament, was left on the bench for the majority of the match. Instead, Amorim chose to start Mason Mount and Amad Diallo behind Rasmus Hojlund in the attack.

“It’s tough for everyone,” Garnacho said after the game, as reported by Metro UK. “This season has been bad. Losing the final now, and not beating anyone in the league… there were a lot of things missing. When you don’t score goals, you always need more at the end.”

He continued, expressing his dissatisfaction with his limited playing time: “I played every round until we reached the final, I helped the team, and to play twenty minutes today… I don’t know.”
