Galatasaray Confident in Bold Move to Sign Osimhen Permanently Amid EPL Interest

Turkish champions Galatasaray are reportedly confident of pulling off one of the most audacious signings in the club’s history, as they intensify efforts to permanently acquire Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Istanbul club remains optimistic despite growing competition from top Premier League sides such as Liverpool and Manchester United, both of whom have recently held internal discussions about a potential deal for the Nigerian international.

“Galatasaray remain optimistic about securing the permanent signing of Victor Osimhen, despite top English clubs having re-entered the race over the past three to four days,” Plettenberg revealed in a post on X.

While interest from the Premier League has increased in recent days, Galatasaray are not backing down. The Nigerian striker is believed to favor a move to England this summer, with both Liverpool and Manchester United exploring the feasibility of a transfer.

Despite this, Galatasaray have tabled a lucrative offer, reportedly offering Osimhen a net salary of between €15 million and €20 million per year—an amount that rivals, and possibly exceeds, what English clubs are prepared to offer.

This strong financial position gives Galatasaray an edge, though the primary obstacle remains the payment structure for Osimhen’s €75 million release clause. Napoli, still holding firm on their valuation, prefer the fewest instalments possible for the deal to go through.

“Gala are offering a net annual salary of €15–20m. The biggest issue remains the payment structure for the €75m release clause. Napoli want as few instalments as possible,” Plettenberg added.

While Galatasaray are financially capable of meeting the release clause, they are seeking more flexible payment terms, ideally to spread the cost over several windows.

Osimhen’s stock remains high following his standout performance during Napoli’s 2022/23 title-winning campaign, where he scored 26 goals in 32 Serie A appearances. However, relations between the player and Napoli soured last summer, leading to his exclusion from new head coach Antonio Conte’s plans.

On loan at Galatasaray last season, Osimhen thrived, netting 37 goals and providing eight assists across 41 matches in all competitions. His dominant form has prompted Galatasaray to push hard for a permanent deal.

The Turkish champions are confident that if they can reach a suitable agreement with Napoli regarding the payment structure, they could beat Premier League competition to land one of the biggest signings in their history.
