Former Super Eagles Goalkeeper Peter Rufai Dies at 61 Amid Football’s Day of Mourning

Former Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper Peter Rufai has passed away.
Rufai died on Thursday after a long battle with illness. He was 61 years old.
Fondly known as Dodomayana, Rufai was widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers Nigeria has ever produced.
Over a career spanning two decades, he played professionally in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain.
He also proudly represented Nigeria at two FIFA World Cups and two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
Rufai’s death comes on the same day the football world is mourning the loss of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash in Spain earlier, alongside his brother.
